INDACO is the elemental shadow of JULIA

Description of the ELEMENTAL concept:
In the end it was the exploration of colour as foundation for costume concepts that gave birth to our unusual interpretation of the supporting cast, now known as THE ELEMENTALS. Each Elemental will be assigned to one of the principal characters. It is important to note that the colours associated with each Elemental may never appear on stage in any literal fashion. The colours merely represent the core psychological attributes of the principal characters, and their Elemental shadows.
Although supporting in nature, the Elementals are a critical part of this interpretation of 'The Duchess of Malfi'. They will be our shape-shifters, fluidly moving from one state to another as required. Each may have several incarnations as both people and other more abstract 'elements'. They will help us illustrate the settings, mood and even the passing of time. They are unusual in that they observe as well as participate in the story; able to understand and reflect on the details of these events from a more removed perspective, like that of 'spirit guide' or 'souls passenger' for each principal. Their names will never be spoken as the principal characters are not aware of their unusual attributes and recognize them only as the characters they portray within each scene.

INDACO'S totem colour:
(INDIGO) INDIGO is the sixth color of the scale. It is, like green, a meeting-ground for all the colors. it represents dignity and high aspirations (http://www.sfheart.com/color.html "the meaning of colours")
I actually really like the possibilities here. At it's most positive it can represent "high aspirations" and perhaps a conscious ambition -which I like- and at it's most negative, it may represent a total lack of dignity and submission. Julia can certainly go both places as I understand her. This is great. On another site it says that although BLUE (The Cardinal) is considered fast, INDIGO is instantaneous - which sounds dangerous to me, much like Julia is in her final scenes. It makes sense that Indigo has one up on Blue as The Cardinal discovers too late he doesn't have the control over Julia he thought he did. I also like the admittedly unsavory implications of her being a "meeting ground for all the colours". Indeed.
