Cariola

(Female, 50-60 years old)
Lifelong devoted handmaiden who raised the young Duchess and who now secretly raises her children. She is fierce in her loyalty and was a willing witness to the Duchess’ marriage of Antonio.

Our own audition detail

The Duchess's waiting-woman and privy to the Duchess’s secrets. She witnesses the Duchess’s wedding, and delivers her children. Dies tragically by strangling shortly after the Duchess and the youngest children. Her name is a play on the Italian carriolo meaning "trundle-bed", where personal servants would have slept.

Cariola's totem colour is:
(ORANGE): Orange can represent comfort, warmth and security. Conversely it can also represent a lack of serious intellectual values. Certainly the positive attributes match up nicely. The negative are more difficult to explain, but not terribly relevant in the context of this story anyway. I'm happy with Cariola embodying the most soothing aspects of comfort and shelter for our The Duchess.
