Audition Excerpt for Supporting RolesThis is a featured page

AUDITION NOTES:
  • The production team will provide you with a scene partner to read with.
  • Memorizing the text is not required.
  • Mr. Hopkins is requesting you perform two pieces:
  1. The first will be of your choosing. (Our hope is that this will help warm you up and help you feel more comfortable before taking a pass at Webster's text, which can be challenging)
  2. The second will be from our script and is printed below.
  • There are additional notes to consider in the column on the right. These are here to give you more context IF you find that useful. Don't overdo it! There will be no written exam! :)

And most importantly enjoy yourself. We do not expect a "perfect" performance. We merely want a sense of who you are and what you may be able to contribute to our production. Have fun and we appreciate everyone's efforts in advance.
It will be great to meet you all face to face!

And here is a short excerpt from the script that supporting players might perform as a chorus of sorts. You may be asked to read this passage if you are interested in one of the 8 Supporting Roles.

THE EXCERPT:

SUPPORTING COMPANY
Call for the Robin Redbreast and the wren,
Since over shady groves they hover,
And with leaves and flowers do cover
The friendless bodies of unburied men.
Call unto his funeral dole
The ant, the fieldmouse, and the mole,
To rear her hillocks, that shall keep him warm,
So if her tomb is ever robbed, it do to her no harm,
But keep the wolf far thence, that's foe to man,
For with his nails he'll dig them up again.

NOTICE:

If you are interested in joining the cast, but honestly feel you are not a good candidate for any of the featured roles listed, fear not. There will be a number of very interesting supporting roles (and other responsibilities) that we will need filled.

When you audition, just specify to our staff that you want to be considered for a supporting role.

Our philosophy is this:
There are no "stars" in our production. Every one of our artists, on stage and behind the scenes, are equally important members of our creative family and will be treated with the same care and respect. We need talented and dedicated supporting players just as critically as "lead" actors.

Without a complete cast and crew, the show cannot go on!
